Wow! What a powerful account of her childhood. Alek has my respect!

What a beautifully strong woman she is. Kia, Charlotte, NC, USA Her story sends chills up my spine. As a middle-class American, I can empathize with, but really can not even begin to know how awful things were for Alek, her family, and the thousands of other refugees that fled Sudan.

How brave she was to even be able to, at the tender age of nine, find ways to survive. I cannot wait to read her book.
