Rock Art Rock: Issue 1.22 Chuck Berry, the Animals, Fillmore Auditorium, June 27, 1967 Artwork by Greg Irons Just as Eric Burden made his first trip to the States to play this concert with Chuck Berry, it was also artist Greg Irons’ first poster for Bill Graham. Irons had just moved to the Bay Area a few months prior, and completed the rush job for this Fillmore Auditorium concert overnight.

Graham must have liked what he saw, because he then commissioned Irons to do more work for BGP shows. Irons ended up creating posters for bands including CSN Y, Moby Grape, Jefferson Airplane, and Santana. His cartoonist inclinations and a signature bright and symmetrical style eventually led him to become renowned in underground comics and the art of tattooing.
