Michael Mosera, executive chef at Holiday Restaurant in New Milford, recently won first place in the third annual Chef Showdown as part of Mohegan Sun casino's Sun Winefest '07. For more information about the chef's win, see next week's Spectrum.Family First Chiropractic Center, located in Lore's Plaza on Route 7 in New Milford, is collecting non-perishables to be donated to the town's Social Services Department.

The active adult community of The Village at Oxford Greens, which serves the Greater New Milford area, recently celebrated the grand opening of its community center, The Ridge Club. The Danbury Fair Mall, which is about to begin major renovations, announced this week the addition of six new retailers, all of which will open later this year. The new stores will include abercrombie Kids, Hollister Co., Martin Osa, New York Company, Sole Mio and Teavana. Martin Osa, which caters to men and women from 25-40, will be the first one in New England and the tri-state area, and the fifth store nationwide.
Teavana sells a broad range of specialty and flavored loose-leaf teas and tea-related merchandise, Both Hollister Co. and abercrombie Kids sell clothing for teens and children age 7-13, respectively. New York Company offers women's apparel and accessories, while Sole Mio specializes in the sale of high-end sunglasses.
Both New York Company and Sole Mio are scheduled to open this spring, while the remainder of the stores are expected to open this summer.
