Round-up: West Brom defender Curtis Davies has had surgery on the foot injury that will see him miss the remainder of the season.

The highly-rated 22-year-old fractured a metatarsal bone in his left foot in the 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace, had pins inserted and now faces a six-week rehabilitation period.
"The operation went very well and Curtis is fine," confirmed Baggies boss Tony Mowbray.

"He has been given some time off to recuperate and let us just hope he makes a speedy recovery. Losing him for the rest of the season is not ideal for us."
Stoke defender Carl Hoefkens is delighted that a scan showed his foot injury to be less serious than feared.

The Belgium international was injured in the match against Portugal but he may return as early as the weekend.
"The scan showed there was no break or fracture," he said. "I had feared the worst as it was very painful.

"
Southampton's Poland striker Grzegorz Rasiak is a major doubt for the league clash with Wolves after picking up a virus on international duty. "He has not been well at all," said manager George Burley. "The team doctor would not let him fly back to us and told him to wait a couple of days.

"
Derby midfielder Stephen Pearson will not be rushed back from his foot injury, according to Rams boss Billy Davies. "Stephen is making good progress but we do not want to rush him and end up losing him for another five or six weeks," Davies said of the 24-year-old.
Colchester midfielder Kevin McLeod is set to return to the U's squad for the game with Norwich, just two weeks after a groin operation.

"They think there's a chance I might be back by the weekend," McLeod told the Gazette.
"It's a little sore and a bit bruised but I'm hoping to be backa s soon as possible."
Defender Roger Johnson is confident that Cardiff have a strong enough squad to cover for injuries - they may be without striker Michael Chopra, defender Gleen Loovens and Ricardo Scimeca for the Sunderland game.

"You don't want to lose players, particularly when we are getting to such an important part of the season," Johnson said. "But we'll have confidence in whoever comes in to replace them. The squad spirit is really good and we're up for the challenge ahead.
