Alliance Boots has unveiled a £65 million re-brand of its UK pharmacies.
But the investment – hailed as the ‘biggest single expansion of the Boots brand in its history’ - will also see the possible closure of some of its UK outlets.
The group said around 100 stores will be affected, with the bulk relocated, but it added it would ‘rationalise’ a small number of sites.
The pharmacy re-brand will see its 900 community stores receive a makeover across the UK.

Boots said most of the 100 locations affected by the store review will be its pharmacies. In some cases it has two outlets less than 500 metres apart as a result of the merger with Alliance UniChem.
But it expects to close or sell only a small number, with the vast majority relocated to other sites, such as those close to doctor's surgeries or health centres.
Alliance Boots Chief Executive Richard Baker said: ‘There are a number of high streets where we have two stores and in some cases they are even facing each other. Less than a handful will be sold or closed - this merger is about growth.
