In this article I m going to talk a little bit about creating a good HTML Title Tag for your jewelry website, assuming you have a site of course. A lot of this information is going to be pretty obvious for anyone who knows HTML, but it s an important part of any website. I am by no means an expert in creating the perfect title tag, and trust me there are people who get paid a lot of money to create them.
But I ve learned (through trial and error) about what can be good to put in them.
What s An HTML Title Tag?
If you don t know how to code HTML from scratch, you might not ever learn what a title tag is and why it s important for your website pages.
If you use a WYSIWG (what you see is what you get) program like Dreamweaver or Frontpage, you still have control over the Title Tag but it s sometimes not necessary to manually enter it in. Often it s automatically created from other information that you give the program (such as the name of your website and/or your name).
In layman s terms, the Title Tag in HTML is the tag that creates the text that you see at the very top of your browser.
For instance, in this site it is Website Title Tags : Jewelry Making . Immediately following that, you ll see something like Internet Explorer or Netscape which is not derived from the title tag but from the browser you are using.
In your browser menu, if you choose View->Page Source on any page you can easily see what the code for a title tag looks like.
