MegaStar says: So it s staff, rather than managers, who did the diversity training then?
British Airways check-in clerk Nadia Eweida, is currently enjoying voluntary unpaid leave. Why?
Because the devout Christian was told to remove her gold cross necklace.
It all began the day after I went on a diversity training course, explains Miss Eweida. I was told I could not wear this small cross (the size of a five pence piece), and was told it was jewellery .
I asked permission to wear it because of my religious beliefs but I was turned down.
Now Miss Eweida has accused BA of double standards as it allows Muslims and Sikhs to wear turbans, hijab headscarfs and bangles without question.
A BA spokesman explained to the Daily Express that Miss Eweida could wear the cross under her uniform.
This rule applies for all jewellery, they explained. Apart from, apparently, bangles.
Christians have been urged to boycott BA until they reverse their decision.
Alternatively, couldn t they just forgive the airline? Isn t that what Christians are supposed to do? Or are we missing the point?
