I ve done it once, to a friend who quite obviously did it to me (when you re gifted things that were discontinued a year previously, you have to wonder).
What I am very guilting of is giving people stuff I got free.
I don t ever just give them my freebie cast-offs, I m not that stingy, but I have bolstered many a present with stuff I ve been sent at work / got in a goodie bag / blagged while on work experience. The thing is, I get some really, really nice freebies - stuff I probably wouldn t be able to afford to buy people under normal circumstances - and I feel guilty keeping it all for myself. I m still at the point where I will try to write up anything that gets sent in, but then the stuff just sits around the office or on my shelves without being used.
If it can go to a good home where it will be appreciated and enjoyed, where s the harm.
I never give up the MAC or Origins, though. I m not that stupid!
Last week was hectic so I decided not to bore everyone by writing here about it. I did want to share my joy at cooking chocolate and walnut brownies from my new Jamie Oliver book, but I wanted to include photos. I still can t get the camera sorted, so you ll just have to take my word for it that they looked good.
They taste even better :-D
We watched An Audience With Take That on Saturday which was fairly amusing for a Saturday. It seems funny that everyone is deciding all over again who their favourite is. I still think Howard s lovely, though I did find that listening to him I start wondering about his speech.
Do I remember right that he had a tongue piercing? Anyone know if he still has it? (and if my utter speechy geekness hadn t already been proven in this post, I thought was really interesting).
We bought Persil on Saturday specially so that I could get a Hatching Mumble . I m so excited at the prospect of Happy Feet - I ve been looking forward to it since seeing the trailer before Harry Potter. Not sure what we re going to do with the washing tablets though, we switched to Surcare after Gemma let me be tester (I promise I ll email you a review!
!) and it helped my excezma no end. At least I got a penguin.
Just on way back from Oxford Street, after deciding to spend a relaxing Saturday afternoon just before Christmas jostling with millions of other angry Londoners doing their festive shopping. The whole street s been pedestrianised for the day, so it s TEEMING with people. I shudder to think if they fit on the pavements normally.
Anyway, mission successful, and there was quite a bit going on, with the Evening Standard doing its bit to cheer shoppers up with enormous balloons (pictured), a stage just off Oxford Circus, and street entertainers.
Of course, for the rest of the week the paper will be doing its usual job of depressing Londoners with dreadful stories about TRANSPORT CHAOS and house prices..
.
Also, Habitat is much more bangin than I remember it. They had a DJ in there and everything.
See, soft furnishings and lighting is well wicked, innit. I am SO so so so so so so glad it s Friday.
SO glad.
That is all.
It s the official bar of the hotel I m staying in in Amsterdam. I ve resisted the urge to go in it so far though, despite the gaudy signage.
I m in Amsterdam for the Nokia World conference, and blogging it furiously for Tech Digest. There s been some good stuff.
I met , (sort of), heard Ruud Gullit talk about , and have just finished writing a big post on about phones in 2010 (clue: GPS, 10-megapixel cameras, HD-quality video recording, a built-in HD projector.
..).
Phew!
It s been good though, my new dictaphone rules. Also, Alice had her second ante-natal scan yesterday - the 20-week one.
I managed to get along before flying to Amsterdam. All good though, bub s got the right number of everything, and apparently looks in bonny health. Roll on April.
