The Adrian Dragon wrestling squad fell to the #1 ranked Canby Lancers last Friday night in Canby. The Dragons were able to win five matches in the dual, one in which Tyler Wagner defeated one of the top rated 171 pound wrestlers in class A, Logan Oelien, by a score of 8-2. The Dragons lost the 103-pound match as Jake Long earned a stalling point to defeat Jake Dorn by a score of 1-0.
Brock Bullerman gave Adrian their only lead of the night as he pinned Ted Berkes in 3:56. The Lancers won the following two matches by fall, taking a 15-6 lead. Matt Gades was unable to battle back from a 4-0 deficit in the first period, falling to Tyler Baer by a score of 7-5.
Nate Barker earned the second Dragon win as he majored Jake Jelen by a score of 14-5. Canby snuck another win at 140 pounds as Alex Kontz defeated Andy Heitkamp 7-4. Trent Slater battled to a 10-5 decision against another tough Lancer wrestler in Jon Verhelst.
At 152 pounds, Jordan Reker controlled the bleeding by going the distance with Tad Merrit. Reker was the second wrestler all season to make it the distance with his Lancer opponent as he has recorded 22 pins, one tech, and one decision so far this year.
