The West High wrestling team improved to 2-1 in Tri-City Athletic League play with a 45-22 win over McNair in Stockton on Tuesday.
Pins from Michael Simmons, Adam Green, Phanh Ly, Juan Villarreal, Paul Silatolu and Alvaro Tellez gave the Wolf Pack the day after the Eagles opened up the match with three wins by decision.
ldquo;Those guys have been there for us, rdquo; West coach Ed Carlos said.

ldquo;It was good to get the win, after what happened (Wednesday) night. rdquo;
Senior Nick Nethercott won by forfeit at heavyweights, John Le notched West rsquo;s other win and even those grapplers who didn rsquo;t win their matches won respect.
ldquo;Kevin Ribelin wrestled a tough match for us, rdquo; said Carlos, who said he expected Ribelin to wrestle Aaron Ceballos, to whom he lost, 18-4, in the TCAL finals.

Carlos rsquo; team is on the up after the season-opening loss to Stagg, and if Tokay can beat Stagg by the time West welcomes the Tigers to the Den on Thursday, a league title is still within West rsquo;s reach.
ldquo;I think with one more week of practice, we should be ready for Tokay, rdquo; Carlos said. ldquo;If we can give them a fight like we did against Tracy, we can still compete for the league title.
