Tattoos for Mom on Mother’s Day

In kindergarten you drew a picture for her; in high school you wrote her a poem. Now you’ve graduated from college and you’re capable of creating more for your mom on Mother’s Day. Channel your inner artiste to reflect your mama’s unique personality in the form of a tattoo designed just for her by her #1 kid.

Maybe you’ll need a true body art professional’s help, but here are a few ideas to help kick start your meaningful Mother’s Day tattoo.

Coffee lover
If your mom loves her coffee in the morning you can design a nice steamy mug of coffee for her to wear on her upper arm so she’ll never be without. If you’re clever enough you’ll add your own reflection in the pooled liquid or funk it up by working snakes into the steam.

Movie loving mom
Find a picture of your mom’s favorite movie character, add her own picture in an embrace with the character and wrap it around her upper thigh. Note that this one will work well if she loves Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan the Barbarian, not so well if her favorite is Martin Lawrence in Big Momma’s House.

Single mom
You know those mud flaps that about 98 percent of truckers have on their transports?

The ones with the silhouette of the naked girl? Well, why not design the perfectly silhouetted man for your mom? Possibly in the same head-thrown-back-knees-up-in-the-air pose, too.

Come to think of it, this design has been a long time coming. Your mom can set a new trend – and you don’t have to know where it is on her body.

Religious mom
You can go one of two routes here.

Think Glamour Shots of Jesus – you’ll feed her ideals, and she’ll always be able to ask of her tattoo “What Would You Do?” Or, if she likes the color red, you can have her stamped with Satan’s likeness and add the word “WANTED” over his mug – that way she can always be on the lookout. Maybe she’ll want one of each on her shoulders.

Celebrity fan mom
If your mom can’t get enough of television and tabloids, consider giving her the gift of permanence in a fleeting world. A picture of Brangelina might be nice – but this one will have to go on her back because you’ll need to leave space and make arrangements for add-ons of kids, jagged split signs, kids, little tiny stitches, more kids . .

.

You love your mama and you want to show her as much. Give her a homemade gift that she doesn’t have to hang on the refrigerator, put in a shadow-box or store with mothballs for you to find after she’s gone.

A tattoo is the perfect way to say “Mom, you’re funkilicious.” In case that’s something you want to tell your mom.
