BOSTON, Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A newborn infant found half dead in a trash bag is recovering in a Boston hospital and receiving truckloads of attention from the community.
A spokeswoman for the state Department of Social Services said Children s Hospital has received a truckload of donations for Baby Jordan, the Boston Herald reported.
DSS was awarded custody of the infant, who remains in serious condition but shows no obvious signs of long-term health problems, the newspaper said.
The Herald said neither the child s mother nor any relatives have come forward.
A front-page story in the Herald about the infant s plight prompted Mark DeMichaelis, president of Olivia s Organics, to fill a box truck with baby clothes, diapers, formula, a stroller and lots more.
He told the paper he and his employees are trying to take care of the baby s needs for the first year.
