Shortly after midnight, a man reported three men wearing black clothing and black bandanas - one with a shotgun - had entered his South Park Street home through an unlocked door, police said. He fled after warning a roommate. The man told police he thought the intruders might still be inside, so officers surrounded the home and tried to contact the roommates by phone, pounding and yelling at the front door and with a public address system.

With no response, officers forced open the door - now locked - and began searching the house. They yelled several times, identifying themselves as officers, before finding the roommates in a bedroom with the door closed, police said. The roommates "were very uncooperative with officers, making officers believe at the time that they might be the suspects," according to a news release.

The officers released a police service dog, which bit one of the roommates in the leg. The man was treated at the scene for small cuts and released.
