March 18, 2007 - With director Zack Snyder's big-screen adaptation of the graphic novel classic Watchmen poised to finally go before cameras later this summer, casting rumors should be expected to be coming fast and furious over the next few months. Akthough Watchmen is an ensemble piece, the key role in the story is arguably that of the masked vigilante Rorschach. A slew of actors have been linked to the part over the project's many years in development, from Daniel Craig to Simon Pegg.
Now Comics2Film.com has a new name to add to the mix: Oscar nominee Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children). Haley, a former child star who appeared in the Bad News Bears films, made a comeback last year with roles in two high-profile dramas, Little Children and All the King's Men.
Haley co-starred in King's Men opposite Jude Law, a comic book fan who sports a Rorschach tattoo in real life and has long coveted the role of Ozymandias in Watchmen. Haley also starred with Tom Cruise in Losin' It way back in the early '80s. Snyder recently revealed that Cruise has also eyed the role of Ozymandias but that he won't likely end up doing the film.
