Government to match our goals and aspirations, our abilities and resources. next to nothing in return. It's a huge drain on us.

On top of that, crime, run-down infrastructure, and under performing social services sell our country short. Worse, actually working. Businesses can hardly move under the often pointless, incoherent, contradictory, and unworkable.

cheap. Government is the most expensive item in the family budget. The average family of four pays a $1,000 a week to government's own top advisor the Treasury warned, "There is sector for the large increase in resources provided.

What little information exists is not encouraging." That's disgraceful. Government has spent an extra $20 billion of of hundred dollar bills stacked 20 kilometres high.

A metre high. $20 billion is a lot of money. It is what we all pay in total in personal income tax.

And that's just the performing government. The good news is that fixing to every New Zealander's life and future. That's why we are in politics.

That's why we are here today. ambitious for ourselves. We are ambitious for our country.

We are ambitious for our government. We refuse to accept plenty of examples of government failure. Our news media are filled with them each day.

I don't want to be depressing by repeating them here today. What's disturbing is that most failures go unreported. Some make it to the media and into political debate.

There's a great deal of finger-wagging and failure. That's the most disturbing bit: we have monumental failures that prove to be no one's fault. No one takes responsibility.

There's noise and fury but no action. We systems put in place, and on and on it goes. The cycle just the way it is.

government must be third-rate. We are in politics to do something about it. We are a party that accepts responsibility.

We are in Parliament. We can do something about it. It starts today.

Pointing the finger at this or that party, this Minister or that one, is a waste of time. We have had third-rate government whoever has been in power. Ministers and The problems are systemic.

Zealand. Our aim with these Service Agreements is to make government open, transparent and accountable. Along with our Taxpayer Rights Bill and Regulatory Responsibility Bill, the they pay.

At present we have no idea. Politicians promise expect or at the level we should. each year for the next five years.

We don't want waffle. We For example, in health. We want to know exactly what sicknesses and need them - that means, how long we should have to wait, what drugs are covered and what won't be, what level of after-care we will receive, and how the service provided compares to recommended best practice.

That's exactly what should demand no less from government. We shouldn't have to we need to know now. average person can expect on average.

We want to know what we each can expect when we turn up. We want to be able to promised. We also want as individual taxpayers to be able to deliver.

That's what we can't do now. They have our money departments deem to provide. At present, we must be thankful for whatever it is we get.

It isn't good enough. core. They are set up for politics and deal in spin and mirrors rather than service.

They don't want to have to would have to be accountable. Accountable for what they are When a consumer buys shoes, they don't want to know how many hours were spent making the shoes, or if the shoe shop made the shoes or purchased them from another firm, our government departments and ministries. It should be the same for government.

The Service Commitment Of course, once we know the Service Commitment, and its cost, we can make comparisons, I suspect we will be very surprised at how think too we will be surprised at what it costs. The Service service for. The Service Commitments are the first step to the promise.

That means accountable government. Service every six months. Every six months they would have to review required to oversee the process.

We would give him a proper and departmental head would sign off them. These would be reviewed and again the Minister, the State Services review. These too would be public documents.

on an annual basis. These are supposed to "inform a wider goal. However all that these weighty volumes contain is covered when they need a knee replacement, or if their deaf we need clearer, simpler, straight talking with Kiwi improvement government.

It's simply about getting the basics Your party, the ACT party, is about making a country and we are ambitious for our government. That's why we are the party of ideas. It's going to be the ACT party is both open and accountable.

It's going to be the ACT party member of the ACT party. I hope it's why you are too. Find this interesting?
