Shoes come in good, bad varieties by MATHEW DOMINGUEZ, Contributing Columnist So we all know the old saying you can never have too many shoes. This is most definitely true.
Shoes are the one thing that complete any outfit. With so many types, how does one choose? Let s take a look at the best shoes for the upcoming season and also what to avoid and demolish.
With the cold weather coming along, boots are what should be focused on the most. Whether or not jeans are tucked, they keep your feet warm and look oh-so stylish.
Most types are still in style. Well, except for cowboy boots. Ankle boots though are the newest and trendiest and have been seen on every stylish celebrity in Hollywood and across the pond.
Kate Moss (Can you not see that I have an obsession with her?) works these so well with everything from her skinny jeans to leggings. But beware.
If these are going to be worn, you do not want to show too much leg because then it makes the ensemble look tacky.
Aside from the ankle boots, knee high boots are also extremely hot right now.
Whether they are motorcycle or stiletto, suede or leather, these are good for keeping you warm and making you look like you just came off the runway. They can be worn in almost any color as long as it corresponds with the tone of the outfit.
Now Ugg boots are debatable with many people. For those who do not know what these are, they are the fuzzy boots that some people hate but so many others like. I guess it just depends on who you are.
These are so comfy though that I wonder how many go without them. But please get rid of any that have any type of decoration such as pom-pom, and if you are going to wear them, make sure that they are in a natural color and not pink, purple or any other color of the rainbow.
Ladies, I know that most of you have at least one pair of heels that you enjoy wearing. Yes, I hear you complaining all the time about how painful they are, but no one said that it was easy being fabulous. But there are some things that you need to know about the latest trends in heels.
For one, get rid of any pointy stilettos. As I said in my first column, this season it is all about round toed platform heels. Think patent leather with a wooden or cork heel.
Steve Madden and Jessica Simpson make the best ones for those who are on a budget. And they still give you the height and powerful feel of those brightly colored pointy toed heels.
Next on the list are flats. Now these are great for anyone, especially if you don t need the extra height. This season it is all about pointy toed flats, but any kind will still work.
These look awesome with a pair of skinny jeans or leggings. Again, since it is the fall/winter season, it would be good to consider more natural tones instead of bright colors.
There are some things that should be avoided though, such as anything that is too sparkly. Bling is over, and it is not prom time, so please get rid of this type of decoration. Also, anything that has any type of artwork embellished on it is a big no-no.
When it comes to boots, anything that has a chunky heel and that is lace up needs to be demolished unless it is part of a costume for this weekend. That is the only time that anyone can get away with it. And those flip flops that have the heels on them should be placed in storage or burned at the stake.
They are beyond over. I don t know whose idea it was to make them, but anyone who still wears them should be written up by the fashion police.
So in conclusion, there is a shoe for every personality or outfit. Whether you want to be sexy in heels or comfortable in Uggs, all you have to do is add a dash of confidence, and make them your own. After all, shoes are usually the first thing that someone will look at when analyzing your outfit and believe me, no one wants bad shoes!
