Dubai: The third week of the Jaffery Sports six-a-side Indoor Football League got under way last Friday at the Maaref Sports Hall in Rashidiya.
Eastpac International played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Afro Trading in the opening game of the day.
Both sides were earlier beaten by identical 2-0 scorelines by Universal Clothing and Dynamic Intertrade, respectively.
Dynamic Intertrade beat Zagy Properties 5-0, with Mustafa Rashid notching up a hattrick and by Mohammad Reza Hemraj scoring two goals. Zagy were clearly undone by the absence of some key players who missed the match through illness.
In the game that followed, Eastern Freight overcome a fighting Tangerine side 4-2.
Ironically, though, the most entertaining match came in the form of a goalless draw played out by favourites Imagio Fashions and Eastern Freight.
It was match that had all the excitement, barring the goals.
Spurred on by a partisan crowd that raised the decibel considerably, Eastern Freight demonstrated immense composure against a stubborn Imagio side that had defeated Universal Clothing 1-0 earlier in the day through a terrific Mohammad Ramzan strike.
Although a handful of chances were squandered by both the sides in the 0-0 stalemate, the nail-biting contest was perhaps the most fitting way to end the day.
With a week's break coming up, owing to religious functions, the next set of fixtures are scheduled for March 16.
